In Rwanda on September 23, 2023, a session focused on creating the Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System (AKIS) diagram for the CANALLS project in Bujumbura took place.
Dr. Ir. Willy IRAKOZE and Dr. M. Chantal NIYUHIRE represented the ISABU Institute during this insightful exercise.
During this session, the contribution of advisory and extension services in services in supporting agroecological innovations was examined. The actors composing the AKIS have been mapped and linked with each other to capture the knowledge flow within the agricultural sector of the country. The AKIS of Rwanda appears to be quite pluralistic, with many actors involved. During the workshop, 26 main actors have been identified, most of them belonging to the public sector.
